That’s handy because you can pick a theme that has the fonts and effects you want, and then customize it with the colors from some other theme. You can apply different theme colors separately from applying the theme itself. It’s not so much a common issue in Word and Excel because those applications typically create dark text on a light background, but in PowerPoint, different slide background and variants can result in a background that is either light or dark, and text that contrasts with it (light or dark). A word about the Text/Background colors: these are so named because they change in function depending on whether you are creating a document that has dark text on a light background or vice-versa.
